Exactly two weeks ago we had something amazing happen to our family. I’ve been telling everyone about it and since actual real live people are reading my thoughts, I decided that I should include it here to encourage anyone that might be struggling trusting the Lord today.
I think any family living on one income will be able to nod their head to head-banging proportions when I say that we have trusted the Lord in our finances every time we look at our bank statement. (Ok I don’t look at it exactly, but brilliant husband translates for me. I’m not a numbers sort of girl. There’s just not room enough in my head because then some of the useless knowledge that affords me countless Jeopardy wins wouldn’t fit anymore.) Before we had Bubba, there was much prayer. We believed that the Lord was leading me to quit my job as molder of hundreds of young minds in the public school system to stay home and mold, at least, two.
Many who know us know that my intensely creative husband is in full time ministry and really, logically, if we were going to pick a salary to keep, it should have been mine. It’s not that fun-loving husband wasn’t willing to play “Mr. Mom” like Michael Keaton (who incidentally was the greatest movie “Batman” that ever was) it’s just that God told us to do it this way. So we did and we reminded God (because He likes it when we remind Him of His awesome promises) that He was our provider and that we were in this for the long haul.
So, we tithe, we give, we save and we compromise on the things we buy a bit. Sometimes it’s hard to do, but it’s never impossible and we have NEVER been without anything. Ok sure we haven’t had the newest things and our cars were getting a bit old, but hey, we had cars and really knowing we were in the exact place God wanted us to be in was worth giving up all the name brand grocery items in the new Giant in Mechanicsburg. Here’s the amazing part.
Last week, my brother (my best friend until I got married and now he’s my second best friend) called us up and told us that when he was praying for us, God told him to buy us a car. Really. Not just any car either: a new car. He took us to the Toyota dealer and told us to pick one out. We now have a brand new Toyota Camry. I thank God for that car every time I drive it.

God doesn’t love us anymore than he loves you. The same God that takes care of us will take care of you. Expect amazing things from your Heavenly Father!

That is AWESOME! Totally, wildly, wonderfully AWESOME! God is amazing. I absolutely LOVE it when He does something so incredible like that.
What a blessing! Thank you for sharing.
Wow! Very cool!
He truly is faithful. This is another awesome tesimony of the blessing that there is in obedience - no matter what is asked of us.
oh my word!
The car aside, how awesome is the idea that God wants to bless you this way! He rewards our obedience and sacrifice just like He says He will (the timing may not be ours, but He is God after all so He knows when is best!). Maybe God will tell your brother your wild and crazy friend Melissa needs tickets to Hawaii!! LOL!
